The Gothic Abbey still dominates this small town. The cross-shaped basilica with its Romanesque westwork dates back to the 10th century, and boasts a Baroque interior with an imposing main altar. This wonderful Abbey, which was run by an abbess and ladies of noble birth, is an 800-year old legacy of female reign. Until the invasion of the French in 1794, Thorn was a source of prosperity for the whole region.
Kapel onder de Linden, the 'chapel under the limewood', also has a beautiful Baroque interior. Luckily, these beautiful pieces of history are still intact for us to admire today.
